Why our venue works for celebrations

The Inner Temple is well suited to private parties because of the flexibility of its event spaces and the atmosphere of the setting.

The Hall provides an impressive backdrop for larger milestone celebrations, while Pegasus Bar & Restaurant and its south-facing Terrace offer a more contemporary space for smaller gatherings and drinks receptions.

Several of the classic rooms on the first floor interconnect, allowing celebrations to be arranged across multiple spaces where required. This makes it easy to incorporate different elements of an event, such as a drinks reception followed by dining or a standing reception.

Our events team works closely with you to shape the event around your plans, whether that involves a formal seated dinner with speeches, a reception-style celebration or a more relaxed gathering.

Choosing your space

The Hall is the venue’s largest space and works particularly well for milestone occasions, receptions and formal dinners. With its oak panelling, chandeliers and generous proportions, it provides a striking setting for larger celebrations. For standing receptions, events can also extend across the interconnected first-floor rooms, allowing guest numbers of up to 600.

For smaller gatherings, spaces such as the Parliament Chamber, Drawing Room and Luncheon Room offer welcoming settings for dinners, receptions and more intimate celebrations.

Pegasus Bar & Restaurant provides a more contemporary option for smaller groups and is available for private hire on weekends. With space for up to 50 guests standing or around 28 for a seated buffet-style event, it is well suited to relaxed celebrations and drinks receptions, with the added benefit of its own south-facing Terrace.

During the warmer months, outdoor spaces can also be incorporated into celebrations. The Garden provides a beautiful setting for drinks receptions, while The Pavilion offers a distinctive option for larger summer celebrations within the grounds.

Can we have both a reception and a sit-down dinner?

Yes. Many celebrations combine a drinks reception with seated dining, sometimes using different spaces within the venue.

What’s the difference between booking the Hall and Pegasus Bar & Restaurant?

The Hall is suited to larger celebrations, accommodating up to 276 guests for seated dining or 400 guests for standing receptions. Pegasus Bar & Restaurant is designed for smaller gatherings and works well for drinks receptions or more intimate celebrations, accommodating up to 50 guests standing or around 28 guests for a seated buffet-style event.

Can we use outdoor spaces for our party?

Yes. The Garden can be incorporated into events during the warmer months and works particularly well for drinks receptions. The Terrace can also be used alongside indoor spaces, while The Pavilion is available for larger summer celebrations between mid-June and mid-July.

Can we arrange our own catering?

All food and drink is provided in-house for events at The Inner Temple. Our team will work with you to create a menu that suits your celebration, whether that is a three-course dinner, bowl food or a drinks reception with canapés. External caterers can be considered for culturally specific events.
