Outdoor events at The Inner Temple take place during the summer months, making use of the Garden, Terrace and Church Court to extend events beyond the main building. Set within a private historic estate, these spaces introduce openness and contrast while remaining closely connected to the venue’s principal rooms.

In most cases, outdoor areas are used alongside indoor spaces, allowing events to move naturally between settings. Pavilion may also be booked as a standalone venue within the Garden, providing a more defined outdoor setting for larger occasions.

Outdoor spaces complement a wide range of events at The Inner Temple. Conferences and meetings often conclude with drinks receptions outside, while networking events and corporate receptions benefit from the more relaxed setting of the Garden, Terrace or Church Court.

At weekends, these spaces are well suited to weddings, private parties and family celebrations. They can be used throughout the day, from outdoor ceremonies to drinks receptions and evening gatherings, with the Pavilion and Garden offering the scale needed for larger occasions.

How our outdoor spaces could work during your event

Outdoor spaces are most often incorporated into evening and weekend events, providing a setting for arrival drinks and informal gathering before guests move into the main event.

For receptions and dinners, they create space for drinks and conversation alongside more formal elements of the programme. Each setting offers a different atmosphere, from the openness of the Garden to the more defined setting of Church Court.

Outdoor use is always planned alongside indoor rooms, with wet weather options arranged where required.

Planning and availability

Outdoor events take place from late spring through to mid-summer, with spaces integrated into the wider event design.

Availability depends on the nature of your event and the spaces required. Summer dates, particularly those involving Pavilion, are among the most in demand and tend to book quickly. Early discussion is recommended to explore options and confirm suitable timings.

Please note the venue is closed for events during August, as well as over Christmas, New Year and Easter.
