Wedding Trends for 2025

NEWS 14/05/2025

This year we’ve seen a record number of wedding enquiries!

To keep up with the upcoming wedding frenzy, we’ve decided to check out what’s trending for weddings at the moment and help our 2025 couples plan one of the most important, and memorable, events of their lives!

In recent years, we have seen more unconventional and personalised weddings are appearing. Couples are opting for less formal catering options and breaking with the traditional order of service. From unique decor ideas to personalised experiences, these popular wedding trends go beyond the traditional and creates a wedding that truly reflects the couple’s personalities.

Sustainability

Sustainability has been at the forefront in the events industry with more venues increasing their efforts with CSR initiatives such as switching to locally sourced produce, using renewable energy, switching to compostable take out containers and leaving out single use plastics.

Eco-consciousness remains a priority for many couples. Practices such as using biodegradable confetti or rose petals, recyclable/seeded paper for wedding stationery (or going digital for invites), opting for zero-waste catering, and choosing venues with renewable energy sources are gaining popularity. Additionally, renting attire, buying second hand, and selecting seasonal, locally sourced menus contribute to reducing the environmental impact of weddings.

According to Hitched, 25% of weddings prioritised sustainable details in 2024. Additionally, research from The Sustainable Wedding Alliance estimates that nearly a third of a metric tonne of solid waste and 14.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide are produced and emitted per wedding – gasp!!

Food:

Searcys, the Inn’s in-house caterer, has some great sustainability pledges reducing your events carbon footprint. Up to 90% of seasonal fruit and vegetables on our menus are British and champion local produce from our local supply network. When toasting to the bride and groom, our sparkling wines come from some of England’s best vineyards and our latest partnership with Drappier, the world’s first carbon-neutral Champagne house!

A few trends we’ve been seeing are sharing menus and grazing tables. Opting for family style menu options making it more relaxed style in comparison to the traditional three-course wedding breakfast. Another great way to bring in the couple’s personality is by choosing a dessert bar with a variety of baked goods instead of a plated dessert, giving guests bite sized treats and a wide range of choices. We are also seeing a lot of couples serve the wedding cake for dessert rather than in the evening to save on wastage.

Another trend we’ve noticed is coffee bar stations with baristas serving coffee classics such as espresso and lattes to keep energy levels high for the evening dancing! Not a fan of the typical sugar filled pick-n-mix; a popcorn bar station for movie lovers is a great way to make your wedding a memorable experience for your guests.

Entertainment:

Today’s couples are embracing unique, interactive, and immersive experiences to keep their guests entertained from “I do” to the last dance.

Incorporating interactive elements such as live wedding illustrators are popping up more and more in events. This is a fun and beautiful wedding take away your guests can have; Sketched by Siena  attended the Inn’s staff last Christmas party and it was a great hit!

The traditional signing of the guest book is slowly fading, recently we’ve seen audio guestbook through a vintage rotary phone engaging guests and adding a personal touch to the event – imagine listening back to all the messages years later (tearjerker)!

As weddings continue to evolve, couples are embracing trends that reflect their values, personalities, and desire to create unforgettable experiences. From eco-conscious choices that reduce waste to elevated culinary experiences that delight every palate, and immersive entertainment that keeps guests engaged, today’s weddings are all about meaningful moments.

Whether you’re planning a grand affair or an intimate gathering, incorporating sustainability, innovative food options, and unique entertainment ensures that your celebration is not only stylish but also thoughtful and memorable. After all, the best weddings aren’t just about the details—they’re about creating a day filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories for you and your guests.

Here’s to a wedding that’s as beautiful as it is unforgettable!
